My new hat!

I've been trying on this style of hat pretty much every time I've been into town lately, and today I finally managed to justify buying one for myself, this one was £10 from H&M (and the guy at the till gave me a voucher for next time I go in, bonus!) I tried to find this hat on the H&M website to show you lot but it doesn't seem to be there, which is poo, since I only bought it a few hours ago!

So, since I can't find this exact one, here are a couple of alternatives:

£25 - Topshop

ASOS Felt Roll Brim Bowler
£16 - ASOS

£30 - House of Fraser

Wearing a hat is, in my opinion, one of the boldest steps you can make, fashion-wise, as it draws a lot of attention to your face. I think there is a hat shape out there for everyone, be it a snapback, a trilby, a beanie, a trapper or a bowler, trying them on is the only way to find out what works for you.
As with any item of clothing or accessory, what suits your friend will not always suit you, but that's okay - individuality is what makes the world as interesting as it is!

Thursday 27 September 2012

I must apologise for the total lack of posts over the past week and a half, we've both been busy with school work and simply haven't had the time to post anything!
Now I'm in sixth form, I have to get up at 6:15am, to be out of the house by 7:15am (I cannot survive a day without my morning shower) and I don't get home until 4:30pm. I know that there are people in the world who work 12 hour night shifts and have it much worse than I do, but I'm still adjusting to this new sleeping pattern and so far I just want to fall asleep as soon as I walk through the door.

However, it is Halloween soon and hopefully we'll be going to a party so you can expect a costume post then, but we will try to update more regularly on anything that catches our eye in the fashion world.

In other news, Hannah has started her own, independent, non-fashion blog, which you can find here.

Again, apologies for the lack of posts lately, we will pick up the pace again soon!

LFW Day 3

We aren't much of a fashion blog if we aren't keeping track of London Fashion Week, are we?
We are three days late, my apologies.
As you can guess, we weren't on the FROW, so all pictures are from the LFW website.

It looks as if the midi-skirt is sticking around for another season, so get (the bottom half of) your legs out!

Geometric prints were big at Marios Schwab, love the cute blue jumper!

The collar seems to be sticking around, which makes me very happy - I love a cute buttoned-up shirt!

I think my favourite piece of the day was this beautiful evening gown by Matthew Williamson, I love the colour, the antisymmetric design, and the way that it floats around the model, delicately and gracefully.

What are your thoughts on next season's trends?

Tuesday 11 September 2012

I'm such a bloody idiot.

Whilst I was in Harrogate, Mum treated me to a Jack Wills travel card holder since this year I have to get myself to school on the bus, and this means buying a weekly ticket for eighteen pounds. Yes, eighteen pounds for the priviledge of getting up at 6:15am, to be out of my house by 7:15am and on the bus by 7:30am and school at 8am. School doesn't even start until 9am.

Today, I showed the bus driver my ticket, and took a seat at the back of the bus (getting on so early does have some advantages - the pick of where to sit) and I have no idea what I did with my pass after that. I was sat in Psychology when I realised that I couldn't feel the card holder in my back pocket, it wasn't there.

I rooted through my bag and went to the rooms I'd been to earlier in the day, but since I don't remember putting it in my bag once I got on the bus, I can only assume that it was carried away. Shit.

The other bummer is that I had my travel discount card in there (which isn't even valid for my £18 weekly ticket) so now I have to pay five pounds to the council to get it replaced. Double shit.

Turns out the 'emergency' tenner that Mum insisted I have on me at all times has paid off - it's going to cost me over £3 to get home tonight!

I text my mum at school to tell her about it, and luckily she doesn't seem to mind too much - but trust me to lose the £18 ticket when I've only used it for three journies!

Still, now I've lost my ticket once, I'm very unlikely to do it again, right?

Monday 10 September 2012

I've been at sixth form for two whole days and so far it's not turning out to be so bad!
Yes, I already have three pieces of Chemistry homework to do, but I always knew that A Levels wasn't going to be an easy path to follow, I came in expecting to be snowed under with work. So far it hasn't been too bad, but I know that I can't get away with the effort I put in for my GCSEs, I need to take it up a notch.

I'm also doing Photography this year, so I'll probably end up posting some of my work on here - I really can't wait to start working with an old Pentax, 35mm film and the enlarger in the darkroom, I'll feel like Julie from Cemetery Junction!

Obviously I'll be let loose with a DSLR or three, and I'm looking forward to learning how to actually use Photoshop, instead of stumbling through it like I did last year, but there's something about using the old 35mm cameras that's rather intriguing. All this photography means that I'm going to have to rope in friends and family as models, but I'll give them some cake to make it up for it!

1 day and counting...

I start sixth form tomorrow.
Cacking it doesn't even describe how I feel.

In a weird way, I have to admit that I am looking forward to it - only have to do subjects that I genuinely want to do, not having to wear a uniform and meeting new people.
On the flip side, I now have to decide what to wear for school everyday, catch a bus at 7:30 in the morning and be in full-time education for the first time since May. Oh, and I absolutely suck at meeting new people, see my earlier post: Please be my friend!

I'm not going to spout any of that "New school; new me" bullshit because I know for a fact that it won't work out that way - who has ever gone back to school as a new person? I mean, the idea of going to a new school where there will only be six other people who know of my past is rather intriguing, being able to shake off any labels and going in there with a fresh start, but my past really doesn't bother me that much - I'm a quiet nerd - what is there to tell? And I have every intention of passing these damn exams, so I will be a nerd for the next two years anyway, why try and make out anything different?

I ransacked my wardrobe and managed to find my "back to school" outfit - everyone wants to make a good first impression, right?

Cardigan - £18 - Next
Top - present
Jeans - £30 - Dorothy Perkins

I wanted to look nice, without looking slutty - I am going to a Catholic sixth form after all!
What do you guys think? Did I make the right choice?

Never got the call...

I love this playsuit, and since it's now September, I probably won't get many more opportunities to wear it this year, so I jumped at the chance to wear it today since it's been such lovely weather!

I've recently applied for a job at a local restaurant, and was expecting a call at about 4pm so that I could go up, have a chat with the manager and take an application form. Unfortunately, as the title would suggest, it's now almost 6pm and they still haven't called. Maybe they forgot, maybe they thought I wasn't right for the job... I'll never know. Needless to say, I do feel a little bummed down by it all, I've been trying to get a job since March and this is the closest I've come so far, just to fall at the first hurdle. I'm not fussy about the kind of job I get, I've even looked into applying at McDonald's, just to see that they had no student jobs going. I just want a little independence from my parents, to be able to buy clothes and shoes and nice make-up and books and films and music... I guess it looks like I'll be relying on them for a little longer.

Job hunting sucks.

Monday 3 September 2012

On the sunny side...it's Autumn (that has nothing to do with the post (Autumn is lovely though))

There's few things I've dreaded more than I am dreading going back to school.
Don't get me wrong it will be exciting to do new lessons such as Psychology (when I get used to spelling it), and doing Art on a big scale (although that's also really scary), I don't really have a point!

I'm worried to be around new people, it really unnerves me, it's so frightening. So frightening.

On the sunny side, the non - uniform rule means my mum has said it is absolutely necessary that I get new clothes and stuff, I love getting folders and stationary, but it all goes to pot because I lose things.

I can't compete with Holly's wonderful mustard bag, I really can't, but mine does have hedgehogs on it, and a whole load of owls, it was £10 from Topshop and surprisingly can easily fit two lever arch files in it, I love it! It's a perfect bag for me, due to it only have one big compartment, I won't be able to lose things in little pockets and break zips, hopefully!

In other news, my Grandma and Grandad got me this necklace for my exam results, and inside the card my grandma wrote what it symbolised, and that she thought it would go with my eyes haha. The turquoise stone for wisdom, and a greek key symbol caging it meaning eternal and infinite. It's so pretty, really really pretty :)

THE TURQUOISE STONE FOR WISDOM, AND A GREEK KEY SYMBOL CAGING IT MEANING ETERNAL AND INFINITE, IT’S REALLY, REALLY PRETTY :)

Anyway, Britain's Next Top Model is on in a second so I'm gonna leave it here, I'll let you know what happens when I get back to school, and if I've had my lunch money taken off of me and my head flushed down the toilet yet. When/where does that even happen?!

See you later! :)

Sunday 2 September 2012

My satchel finally came!

Gah! I meant to write this post on the 23rd of August, but completely forgot until today when I saw the new Google Chrome advert...

Anyway, I have my very own Cambridge satchel! Unfortunately we are not one of the top fashion bloggers who were given one for free, so mine cost £93 including delivery. But look at it.

It also comes in it's very own cotton drawstring bag - that should definitely be on the advert!

It is the 15" Batchel in yellow, as shown in my previous wish list post.
I know that I look a bit of a pleb in the photos, but who really cares? My satchel has arrived and I am haaaaaaaaappy!
Sixth form starts on Friday (I have no idea why I start on a Friday, but there you go) and being the girl with the bright yellow satchel can't be too bad a thing, can it? At the moment it's really stiff, but I'm hoping that if I keep stuffing it full of folders and food it'll soften up beautifully in no time!
